Which system we use
NumeroDan uses the Pythagorean system by default — the most widely used tradition in Slovenia and across Europe. In the Pythagorean system every letter of the alphabet gets a value from 1 to 9 (A=1, B=2, C=3, ..., I=9, J=1, K=2, and so on).
We treat accented letters as their plain form: é as e, ü as u, ñ as n and ø as o. That way we work out your name the same way as in the original tradition, wherever it comes from.
If you like, you can switch to the Chaldean letter table in Settings — an older tradition that gives letters different values and is used mostly in the East.
Which system you choose only affects the numbers that come from your name — Expression, Heart's desire and How others see you — and reworks them right away. The numbers that come from your date (Life Path, Personal Year, Personal Month and Personal Day) are the same in both systems.
The way we match numbers follows the Decoz school of numerology. Numerologists do not agree on which numbers fit well together — so this is one honest view, not the only one.
Which numbers we work out for you
- Life Path
- From your date of birth. It tells you the main direction of your life.
- Expression number
- From your full name. It tells you how you naturally express yourself.
- Heart's desire
- From the vowels in your name. It tells you what you want most, deep down.
- How others see you
- From the consonants in your name. It tells you the outward impression you leave.
- Maturity number
- Your Life Path plus your Expression number. In numerology it is said to show gradually between 30 and 35, and become stronger after 35.
- Personal Year
- From your birth month, your birth day and the current year. It tells you the theme of this year.
- Personal Month
- From your personal year and the current month. It tells you the theme of this month.
- Personal Day
- From your birth details and today's date. We work it out step by step — personal year, then personal month, then personal day. It tells you the energy of the day.
- Karmic notes
- Numbers missing from the letters of your name. They point to the areas you build more consciously in this life.
- Circle (in the app)
- In the app you add people around yourself — partner, family, friends. For each one you see how your numbers match and what the day is like for you together.
The glossary explains what each term means. What a specific number means is a separate topic.
Master numbers
The numbers 11, 22 and 33 carry a special meaning. We do not fold them down into 2, 4 or 6 — they stay as they are. They mean more sensitivity and more responsibility in that area. The same holds inside your personal year, personal month and personal day — a master number stays a master number at every step. Some numerologists always fold master numbers down inside these cycles. We keep them instead, like a number of modern apps do — and we'd rather say so plainly than leave it unsaid. For personal day 33 there is no outside standard — the word we use is our own choice.
- Master numbers (11, 22, 33)
- We do not reduce them to one digit; they stay whole. The explanation is above.
What our method is NOT
- Not a horoscope. The numbers come from your real details — not from the sign of the year.
- Not a forecast of your fate. The numbers show your natural strengths and your challenges. What you do with them is your choice.
- Not a replacement for professional help. If you need a therapist, a psychologist or a doctor — go to them.
- Not magic. The rules of numerology are clear and repeatable. You can check our numbers against those rules.
- Colors mean nothing. They're only a visual separator between numbers (and a marker for today and master days) — no color is “yours” and none brings luck. The meaning comes from the number and the word, not the color.
A worked example
You can check our numbers against those rules.
One rule first — without it, the calculation won't match
We add up a name in parts, not all the letters at once. Each part of the name is added and reduced to one digit on its own, and only then are the parts added together.
That's how we keep the real master numbers 11, 22, and 33 — and don't invent ones that aren't there.
Nina Lipnar, born April 5, 1990 · a made-up sample profile, not a real person 1. Every letter gets its own number N 5 · I 9 · N 5 · A 1 → Nina = 20 L 3 · I 9 · P 7 · N 5 · A 1 · R 9 → Lipnar = 34 2. How the app actually calculates — in parts Nina 20 → 2 · Lipnar 34 → 7 · 2 + 7 = 9 The expression number is 9. 3. What you get if you add everything at once 20 + 34 = 54 → 9. This time the result is the same. The difference shows up when the sum of all the letters at once gives 11, 22 or 33 — for example, a first name worth 20 and a surname worth 13: 20 + 13 = 33 looks like a master number, but it isn't. That's why we calculate in parts.
If you get a different number than the app, look at this step. Almost always it's because the name was added up all at once, instead of part by part.
- Ana Kovač
- Expression number: Pythagoras 5 · Chaldean 8
- Eva Turk
- Expression number: Pythagoras 8 · Chaldean 8
All four numbers from one example
Nina Lipnar, April 5, 1990
- Life Path: 1
- From your date of birth. It tells you the main direction of your life.
- Expression number: 9
- From your full name. It tells you how you naturally express yourself.
- Heart's desire: 2
- From the vowels in your name. It tells you what you want most, deep down.
- How others see you: 7
- From the consonants in your name. It tells you the outward impression you leave.
How the day number comes about
Nina Lipnar · September 21, 2026 · this number changes every day
- Personal Year: 1
- From your birth month, your birth day and the current year. It tells you the theme of this year.
- Personal Month: 1
- From your personal year and the current month. It tells you the theme of this month.
- Personal Day: 22
- From your birth details and today's date. We work it out step by step — personal year, then personal month, then personal day. It tells you the energy of the day.
1. Personal year Birth month 4 + birth day 5 + year 2026 (reduced to 1) = 10 → 1 2. Personal month Personal year 1 + month 9 = 10 → 1 3. Personal day Personal month 1 + day 21 = 22 22 is a master number, so we do not reduce it further.
The personal month is a middle step.
Two common mistakes. First: skipping the personal month and adding the day straight to the personal year. Second: shrinking today's day to one digit before adding it in. For single-digit days this makes no difference, but for two-digit days it can.
An older version of this app calculated the personal year differently, so on some days it may show a different personal year than this version.
Where it actually shows – same Nina, September and October 2026
Dates where the correct and the wrong path give different numbers.
| Date | Correct | If you skip the personal month |
|---|---|---|
| 10 September 2026 | 11 | 2 (a master number disappears) |
| 21 September 2026 | 22 | 4 (a master number disappears) |
| 28 September 2026 | 11 | 2 (a master number disappears) |
| 1 October 2026 | 3 | 2 (a different number) |
In September the two paths split only on master-number days. In October they split every day, because the personal month differs from the personal year. That is why we never skip the personal month.
How to use it
NumeroDan is a tool for reflection — it helps you stop once a day and look back. You do not have to follow it blindly. You get the real value when you use the numbers as a starting point for your own thinking, not as a rule.
Try it on your own name.
The same calculation described here — on your own details.
